To support “.alsace,” on 12 February, in a partnership with the regional CCI, the Alsace Attractiveness Agency launched a search engine optimisation contest using the word “cricetus.” (for more information, refer to)

The goal was to motivate participants to create an internet site ending in “.alsace” and to work on their search engine optimisation in order to have the “cricetus” key word at the top of Google results.

Twelve sites took part in this search engine optimisation contest, sponsored by Olivier Andrieu, a well-known web listing specialist :

  • grand-cricetus.alsace
  • cricetus-hamster.alsace
  • faune.alsace
  • objectifcricetus.alsace
  • le-cricetus.alsace
  • grand-hamster-cricetus.alsace
  • rufus-le-cricetus.alsace
  • dessine-moi-un-cricetus.alsace
  • hamlet-cricetus-le-super-heros-le-plus-cool-d.alsace
  • passion-cricetus.alsace
  • cricetus-cricetus-cricetus.alsace
  • grand-hamster-cricetus.alsace

Sans titre2The LIFE Alister Project, whose content inspired those taking part in the contest, was requested to name the site with the most interesting content, as a search engine optimisation contest does not take the quality of the content into account, but just correct use of techniques.  The project’s partners were also consulted and the two winners they found were : grand-cricetus.alsace and dessine-moi-un-cricetus.alsace

The last site, designed by Marie Keith, won because the partners appreciated the way it targeted a younger public.

Sans titreMoreover, the “Best Alsatian Search Engine Optimiser” Trophy was awarded to a young webmaster from Strasbour, Nicolas Hug, with his site: le-cricetus.alsace”. Using natural search engine optimisation techniques, he succeeded in placing his site at the top of the Google search engine, even in front of the Wikipedia site for the word “cricetus” and our LIFE+Alister site. A remarkable achievement !

The LIFE Alister Trophy is awarded by Odile Petit, from the CNRS, the project’s partner.
